You will have to do everything right if you're going to organize the greatest rave party ever. These are the bare essentials for a great rave party:
You will need some good trance music and drum & bass stuff. Tiesto, Infected Mushrooms, Cascada, etc. use your imagination. The most important thing for a rave party is the sound system so invest some money into it. Lasers and fog machines are nice to have but the music / sound sytem could be the difference between a great rave party and a crappy party.
Make sure there is plenty of water, ice and ventilation on hand. You will need it, believe me. I organize rave parties at least once every month. Offer lightshows, vicks, backrubs and water to everyone. Keep in mind that some prefer orange juice over alcohol. That's because ecstasy pills, legal highs, cocaine, etc. don't interfere with orange juice.
If you're not on a tough budget you should buy black lights and neon colored stuff. They have a very nice effect and your friends will appreciate it. Invite only your close friends and no strangers. Last time a guy I barely even know (I can't remember who invited him) almost set my living room on fire with his stupid lightshow. So be careful!

A little bit tired of rave parties
Going to rave parties used to be fun back in the good old days. However I feel like I need something else. You won't believe it but I'm tired of rave parties, legal highs and drunken boys and girls. Some of you might think that I'm going crazy but I can assure you that I'm not even high tonight. Maybe it's time to calm down a little bit and take a rest.
The real world is nothing like a rave party, ecstasy pills, etc. The reality is completely different. Full time job, wife / girlfriend... maybe kids why not. It becomes harder and harder to find time for rave parties. Eventually at some point you don't even have time to hangout with your friends.
As a word of advice I would say enjoy your life while you can. When you're young and full of energy it's the perfect time.
